Spotlight on Johnny 

Johnny is checking items off his travel bucket list one by one. Two years ago, Johnny visited Disneyland and earlier this fall, Johnny decided it was time to head north. Within a matter of days, he was on his way to a week-long Alaskan cruise. His provider, Joanna, helped his dream to become reality and saw him through every step in the planning process from pricing cruise packages to coordinating transportation. Joanna (a direct support provider with Allies, LLC) is an amazing advocate and has made a tremendous impact in ways both big and small. Above all, she is instrumental in helping Johnny to fully embrace and see his goals to completion.

Johnny enjoyed exploring the ocean front towns of Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway. His favorite experiences include buying souvenirs at each port city, taking pictures, and meeting new people. Johnny truly immersed himself in cruise ship life. He loved the buffets, playing games, the entertainment, and dancing. He made a point of joining all the activities he could. He said, “I was too busy to be lonely!” Johnny met a lot of friends and appreciated how genuinely nice people were.

When asked what advice he would share with others about travelling solo, he replied, “You don’t need to be scared or nervous. You can get help to make it happen. I can’t wait to do it again”.

Not only does Johnny embody the spirit of a dreamer, but he is a “doer” as well. He truly is an inspiration.
